A Mom's Prayer for Summer
Dear Lord,
Thank you for this school year coming to an end. Thank you for walking with us through every high and low.
I praise you for the friends who encouraged and loved my children this year. I praise you for the teachers, administrators, coaches, and leaders who shaped their hearts and minds. Give them rest and restoration this summer. Bring peace and calm to their soul. Bless them and their families.
Summer is here, and we're excited. I ask you, Lord, to protect our family. Surround us with your angels to ward off evil and harm. Fill our house with peace, harmony, laughter, and joy. Where there is boredom, spark creativity. Where there is fighting, inspire peace. Give me patience when my children test me or provoke each other. Help us love each other well — and carry that love outside our home too.
Stay with us, Lord, as we travel. Draw our attention to the beauty of nature and the vast majesty of the universe You created. Let our best experiences and highlights create unforgettable core memories. Unite us, strengthen our family unit, and draw us closer to You.
Lord, help me find the right balance between summer fun and summer chaos. Fill our days with a healthy mix of spontaneity and structure. Allow me to see my children through your eyes, treasuring them and enjoying them exactly as they are today.
Let the simple joys of summer — swimming pools, sleepovers, cookouts, board games, cards, catching fireflies, movie nights, late-night walks, boat rides, ice cream, lemonade stands, sand castles, and time at the lake, the mountains, or the beach — leave the deepest impressions. Remind us that life’s best moments can't be purchased or manufactured. Allow us to feel your presence and see your fingerprints in all the magical moments.
Keep your hand on us, Lord, and guide in every adventure. Help us spend our time and resources wisely and reflect your heart and goodness to others. Thank you for the gift of summer and the family you've blessed me with. Every good gift comes from you, and I'm eternally grateful for receiving more than I deserve.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
